Harris Teeter and Food Saver Shopping!

I do so wish that Publix would have some kind of amazing sale.  While I adore the incredible deals at Harris Teeter, shopping at Publix is fun.  I have been to Publix every week for some small thing as it is just around the corner, but there has not been any amazing deals worth a grand trip. That said, Harris Teeter again beats the sales at Publix with their Super Double Wednesdays in Middle Tennessee.  And this was even after I left my specific sales coupons at home and just used what was in my purse.  My son had to be at school for a trip at 6 am and the store is near his school.  I don't remember much at 5ish in the morning.

Food Saver Cost Plus

This store generally has a great deal on a different meat each week.  Occasionally there is a nice manager's special in the produce department.  Their pork roasts are very good.  I cook mine in a cast iron smoker in the oven.  It's also a great place to get country food like real smoked sausage in burlap sacks - it smells cool! The "cost plus" part is that they add 10% to the total for the store.

Great Price on Roasts at Food Saver!

Food Saver Cost Plus (Franklin, TN) has a great price on beef roasts this week at $1.88 ($2.07 with the 10% added).  One of those packages is between $3 and $4.  It is great cooked as a roast or cut up for stew.  Now is a perfect time to put some in your freezer!  This picture was taken yesterday.  Food Saver's sales run Monday to Sunday.

Great Sale on Pork Roasts at Food Saver!

I stopped at the Franklin, TN Food Saver yesterday and took advantage or their great sale on Boston Butt Pork Roast.  Remember that you have to add 10% to the cost per how the store operates.  Even so, .98 per lb is a great deal!  I have purchased these before and the meat is very good.  I have even had them sliced and cut into stew meat by the butcher.  One package runs around $4 or $5 each.  Now is a great time to fill your freezer.

Food Saver Cost Plus Meat Sale

Food Saver has boneless pork loin for $1.42 (1.29 +10%) per lb.  I have had it in the past, and it is really good.  I have also had the their butcher cut it up into stew meat and chops at no additional cost.  If you are looking for a good deal on meat, this is it!  This price is good through Sunday, March 3rd.

Food Saver Meat Sale!

Now is a good time to stock up on meat at Food Saver. Through Sunday, pork loins are $1.38 per lb ($1.52 with 10% added). Also, fresh drumsticks are .97 per lb ($1.07). I have previously purchased their pork loins and they are really good.

I knew I was going to stock up, but serving whole pork loins over and over did not appeal to me. So it dawned on me that Food Saver has its own butcher, and they will cut a piece of meat up for you for free. So I purchased six and had two cut up for stew meat and two cut up in chops. Just so you know, boneless pork chops are over $4 per lb and having a pork loin cut is so much cheaper. One pork loin cut up into stew meat will fill three Ziploc bags. Each pork loin had an average cost of $6.27. Chicken leg packages averaged $4.53 ea. What you see is 27.3 lbs of pork loin and 14 lbs of chicken. Total OOP was $61.40.

Cheap Bananas at Food Saver!

There are a few great deals at Food Saver this week! This week Food Saver has three pounds of bananas for $1 (or .37 per lb with the 10%). Also eggs are .68 (.75) and yellow or zucchini squash is $1 per lb ($1.10).

Great Deal on Capri Sun at Food Saver

This week at Food Saver Cost Plus if you purchase 5 boxes of Capri Sun you will get $5 off when you check out making them $1.35 each. The B3G1 Capri Sun Coupon (3/18 SS) makes this an even better deal. However, the coupon expires tomorrow (4/18) so if you want to use it, you better hurry. The coupon took off $2.35 when I checked out making them .76 ea (.84 with the store's added 10%).

Cheap Eggs at Food Saver

Have you noticed how expensive eggs have become? Fortunately, Food Saver is having a great sale on their eggs. Their medium sized store brand eggs are currently .75 per dozen. If you have a Food Saver and a need for eggs, now is the time to buy!

Food Saver Great Deal on Chicken!

I'm not a huge fan of Food Saver, but they seem to have at least one great deal a week. Keep in mind that the price on the shelf is really the price plus 10% when you check out. This week Fryer Leg Quarters are .38 per lb (really .42) in 10 lb bags. This is a fantastic stock-up price! For $4.20 you get 10 lbs of chicken which is about three crock pots worth. For the Locals: Cheap Canned Vegetables at Food Saver

In Franklin, TN, the old HG Hill store has been converted into a Food Saver. I miss the HG Hill store. It used to have great prices on fresh meat. The one thing I really don't like about the new store format is that they tack on another 10% when you check out claiming that the price you see on the shelf is their cost only. So basically you pay another 20% when you check out because of the added tax.

Anyway, Food Saver does have a great deal on store brand canned vegetables. Including the 10% add-on, their cans of green beans, corn or peas are .32 each. It is a great time to stock up but be careful of purchasing other items as many are not really deals when you add on the additional 10%.
