If you have a son in 1st through 5th grade, I highly recommend joining Cub Scouts! It is one of the most cost effective activities ($75 for the whole year) and learning experiences that you can provide. Some of the activities include camping, hiking, Pinewood Derby, cake decorating contest, sports games, caving, swimming and parades. You do not need to be an outdoor expert to be involved. There are plenty of people to help you, and you can learn along with your Scout. Now is the season to join and you can find out all the contact information you need either through your child's school or church.
