My Favorite Sale Item of the Week!

My kids love Chef Boyardee which is a good thing because they can be so picky that I wonder if they are getting enough to eat sometimes. So I throw in a can or two or three a week. I do make them at least try everything I cook, but I can only take so many grimaces. Anyway, Kroger is having their Daytona 500 Mix and Match Deal where you purchase 10 items on their list and then you get $3 off when you check out. You can do this three times per transaction to get a total of $9 off. Chef Boyardee is part of this deal and is on sale. Thus, if you buy 30 cans of Chef Boyardee at .88 on sale minus 10 manufacturer coupons .35/3 which doubles and then minus the $9 for the deal you end up paying .35 per can. I am so there tomorrow.

Does your Kroger take printed internet coupons? I tried at the one by my house and they would not. I emailed corporate but have not heard back. I am thinking about trying a different Krogers.

Also, tried the ham coupon last night. Didn't get it to work at the Publix in Bellevue. They also would not take my Target coupons as a competitor. I was told they only consider local grocery stores competitors, not mass merchandisers. Nuts!

I did this last night! I read your blog quite frequently, and find myself saying "man... I wish I could catch those deals." Made a coupon book, started stealing my mom's Sunday paper, and started printing coupons at work. Unfortunately I didn't have the .35/3 coupon, but still.... roughly 50 cents a can is better than $1 a can! And to see you blog about it today made me happy :D
And @ the other Liz (lol) I've found that it varies from cashier to cashier. For instance, at my kroger, we had a nit pick over them accepting my printed coupon in the pharmacy for $5 my RX. On the other hand, in the "grocery" side, they accepted them just fine.

It does largely depend on the cashier. Kroger lets you print coupons from their website. Print some off, don't cut them up and take the page to them showing the Kroger website information. It may help. However, I would definitely try another Kroger. I shop at the Cool Springs Kroger and rarely have a problem.

Also go for the good looking happy teenage boy for a cashier. Stay away from middle age and older women (no offense as I am one, but they are the most problematic). You want someone that does not take coupons as if it is personally coming out of their paycheck.

I've found that I don't really have that problem.... Then again, I pull the "20-something-poor-college-kid" card a lot. :D

I think I will identify myself as Nashville Liz since there are two of us. ;)

My Kroger Cashier was a young guy who denied my printed coupons. My publix pain in the ass lady was older. She carefully laid every single coupon out. THEN grouped them and then matched them to my items. As if I was going to lie about my coupons! LOL. I won't go through her line again!

So to clarify- you can only use KROGER printed coupons? You have not been able to use other printed coupons there either?

I use all kinds of Internet printed coupons. The Kroger website that you print coupons from uses one of the major printable coupon vendors to offer them. Go to this Kroger site: http://www.kroger.com/in_store/Pages/coupon_landing.aspx. On that page are links to load coupons onto your Kroger card from three different sites (cellfire, shortcuts and P & G) and a site where you can print your coupons out. The printable coupons link is powered by coupons.com which is one of the top internet printable providers. I am really surprised that your Kroger won't allow printables.

I would call Kroger customer service, 1-866-221-4141, and ask why your local store is not accepting the coupons that you print at their website.

I did that once with Target and they sent me a gift card and an apology.
